Animal Talker

An AnimalTalker is a device that can receive data via Bluetooth from different sensors called AnimalButtons. Each button is composed of a sensor, a battery and a Bluetooth microchip with its antenna. It sends the data collected in a string format using a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) service. The AnimalTalker gathers all the strings with their IDs and makes them available over the internet. The AnimalTalker has a GPS module, an environmental temperature and humidity sensor, a NB-IoT/4G/5G module to allow internet connection.

The data collected are:

  1. animal neck movement, using a 3 axis accelerometer, to register rumination and breathing

  2. animal leg movement

  3. animal skin temperature

  4. location (GPS signal)

  5. environmental data (temperature and relative humidity)
